Dr. Stephanie Anne Shelton
Fellow

I’m an Associate Professor of Educational Research in the Department of Educational Studies in Psychology, Research Methodology, and Counseling at The University of Alabama.  My scholarship focuses specifically on the intersections of race, gender, and sexuality - particularly in educational settings. I joined this group because I recognize the systemic inequalities that maintain White Supremacy, privilege, and violence, and that there won’t be significant shifts to true equity until we examine and dismantle those oppressive systems. This group is committed to doing that work, and even better, with a focus on this community. This work is difficult, necessary, and has the potential to be life-saving and life-altering.

Mission and Location

Building Bridges Institute for Racial Reconciliation is a qualified 501(c)(3) nonprofit created to address the damaging effects of Racism as both a social construct and lived experience by holding seminars and facilitating conversations in the Tuscaloosa Community.
