Andrea Dobynes-Wagner
Board of Directors

I was born in Petersburg, VA, but graciously consider myself as a proud product of the Blackbelt, spending most of my childhood in historic Marion, Alabama. I am a two-time alumnus of The University of Alabama, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies and a Master of Arts in Gender and Race Studies. Professionally speaking I have proven that I do know my way around the classroom, serving as an adjunct instructor at The University of Alabama from 2014-2017. In 2017, I transitioned to secondary education at Francis Marion School as an English teacher earning the honor of 2017-2018 Educator of The Year. I also taught in Hale County and Selma City Schools. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my husband and family, writing  poetry, mentoring youth, and traveling. My commitment to the community includes, but is not limited to, voter       registration drives, food pantry projects, and literacy promotion, amongst other avenues to better the Blackbelt. I am a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Tuscaloosa Chapter of NAACP, Plum Grove Baptist Church and The National Federation of the Blind.
